This is the book that was the "book within a book" in Fangirl by the same author. I haven't ready Fangirl yet, as of when I wrote this post, because I was unaware that that was how this story went.
Carry On is one of those books that I was super sad for it to end. I listened to it during the end of my employment at 4-H camp and the drives back and forth. I honestly even tried to make it last longer due to how great of a story this is.
Carry On is extremely cheesy but makes up for it in heart. The book has a Harry-Potter-esque type feel to it as that Simon Snow is an orphan who is supposed to be the savior of the wizarding world against the "insidious humdrum." He is also in a constant battle with is roommate, Baz, who is his mortal enemy. Simon is considered to be the most powerful wizard in the world, and he tends to "go off" on occasion and do things with his power he had no idea he could do. Throughout the course of this book, Simon must work with Baz to determine how to defeat the humdrum and the spots in the magical atmosphere that are occurring due to the humdrum that eliminate magic in that area.
Carry On is a book about self-discovery and is highly entertaining and snarky while doing so. This book has a sequel releasing this fall, and I cannot wait to spend my Audible credits on getting it. I'm ready for more Simon and Baz in my life.
