My VIPKid Journey So Far

Back in November I began the journey of applying to be a VIPKid teacher. Now, you're probably wandering what the heck VIPKid is. Let me tell you.
VIPKid is a company based out of Beijing, China, with the purpose of pairing Chinese children with native English speakers to learn English as a Second Language (ESL). The reasoning behind is is the best way to truly become fluent in a language is to be completely immersed in the language. This company has been ranked one of the highest for stay-at-home jobs.
I discovered this company by hearing several of the teachers I'd had in high school talk about their experience in teaching with them on the side for a supplementary income. My interest had been peaked for a while, but definitely more so after not having a full-time job and I was grasping at straws for a job.
So, in November, I finished filling out my application, and signed up for an interview the Saturday before Thanksgiving. I felt adequately prepared for the interview.....to not pass. Yep. I failed. Majorly. I failed and was highly upset by the fact. I then received an email a couple of weeks later about attending a Zoom call with the company to then continue on with the interviewing process with the Mock Classes. I did it. I attended and picked the levels I wanted to start working on to earn the certifications for. I worked and worked and kept having to redo my classes over and over again. Finally, I passed one, and then I passed another one and became certified in three levels.
Then, I opened my bookings. I opened bookings for the week of Christmas -- FOUR WEEKS AFTER MY INITIAL INTERVIEW. I got bookings, which I was excited about. The part that was not exciting was that it was four back to back bookings on Christmas morning -- my first ever morning of teaching. I was a nervous wreck and worried about my time management. Nevertheless, I succeeded. I taught and then I went back to bed and rested because those were the most intense two hours of my life.
I then didn't have another booking for close to three weeks. I kept my slots open and would have sporadic bookings. While waiting for these bookings, I attended workshops. Y'all. I've attended close to all of the workshops this company has to offer. I have about three I haven't attended yet, even to this day. I worked on more certifications with a TESOL certification.
I'm still working on certifications. I worked on two this morning, actually, to where I can teach more classes.
Nevertheless, though, over the last about three weeks my bookings have increased significantly in March and so far into April. I've taught more classes in the last week than I had my first three months together.
Good things come to those who wait. Also, good things come to those who work on manifesting the things they want. I've been working extremely hard on making sure I have a good amount of openings to be chosen from. I make sure that I teach the best I can during each class and provide quality feedback for parents to want to book me again.
I also have realized this is one of my most favorite things to do. I LOVE teaching these students and seeing them grow in their English knowledge. I love seeing them get excited when they read something correctly the first time.
This company and opportunity has been a blessing in disguise as that I can set my own schedule and it working around my school schedule as I need it to.
